Awakening

Darkness was all the boy could see. His arms and legs didn't respond to him as his ears flicked from the sound of approaching footsteps. Something came into view as sweat beaded down the side of his face. The ominous figure crouched down to him, putting a hand lightly on his cheek, fingertips grazing the fur on the boy's face. Numerous voices rang in his head as the shadow touched him; it made his body jump out of his skin. Its contact shocked him like his soul being severed from his body.
